Al-jon offers three different landfill compactor models – ranging from (37,195 kg) up to (57,153 kg) including the Advantage 500, Advantage 525 and the heavy weight champion of the world, the Advantage 600.

Amandus Kahl

AMANDUS KAHL is a medium-sized family-owned company managed by its proprietors. It was founded in 1876 as a manufacturer of mills and pelleting presses. Today, we look back on more than 125 years of machine and plant construction.

Around 1920, the extrusion press was designed, patented, and sold worldwide. In 1920, the first pelleting press was delivered – the forerunner of the flat die pelleting press which has been constantly improved to this day. KAHL plan, design, and build machines, plants, and turnkey production factories for conditioning and compacting of many different products for a wide variety of industries. The flat die pelleting press and the annular gap expander are the most successful products of KAHL.

Possible applications of the KAHL pelleting press: Wood waste, wood shavings, wood chips, sawdust, wood and grinding dust, straw, miscanthus, bagasse and other biomass.

A Convincing Technology

For decades, KAHL pelleting plants have been applied successfully for compacting organic products of different consistency.

Do you need constantly uniform, optimally compacted pellets? Our presses are able to produce pellets of 2 to 40 mm in diameter. The KAHL pelleting presses process also materials which are difficult to compact:

  • Powdery, fibrous, lumpy and pasty substances
  • Substances with different particle sizes, moisture, and bulk density

The product is formed into endless strands at a high throughput which are precisely cut by means of knives. With a roller speed of only 2.5 m/s an optimum deaeration of the product is achieved. The plants are extremely silent with a noise level of less than 70 dbA. 12 types of pelleting presses are available for different applications.

Intelligently Controlled

For gentle drying of wood shavings and wood chips we have developed special belt driers ensuring:

  • Optimum product quality
  • Economic operation

The plants which are individually composed of modules ensure convectional drying using hot air. Thanks to an intelligent control system, the KAHL fabric belt drier adapts to varying moisture degrees and climatic conditions. Depending on the demands, ambient air or recirculated air with a temperature of up to 200 °C are used in KAHL belt units. Inert gas designs avoid emissions and dust explosions.

Our fabric belt made of special plastic serves not only for transport but also as an exhaust air fan. The drying plants are also suited for high throughputs at automatic operation.

To Prepare Quality Pellets

Wood shavings, sawdust, wood chips, and other lumpy biomass raw materials are crushed in an eco-friendly way using the KAHL pan grinder mill:

  • With a minimum energy consumption
  • Silent operation
  • No ATEX problems
  • Without aspiration system, cyclone, filter and exhaust air plants

The mill can be designed for capacity ranges from a few hundred kg up to 20 t/h and does not need much space. Both dry and wet raw material is processed.

KAHL pan grinder mills defibre wet wood chips of the categories G30 and G50. Subsequent fine grinding with conventional hammer mills is not necessary.

Compact Energy

Pelleting of renewable raw materials for energy recovery has been a topic for KAHL for more than 30 years, after receiving corresponding research assignments following the energy crisis in the 1970’s. Straw and dried forage pelleting plants have formed part of our delivery programme since then, too. So, we can rely on long-standing experience.

The worldwide energy and resource consciousness has increasingly moved materials into focus which have been unexploited so far, such as straw, rape straw, or by-products from cereals and pulses. Pellets offer enormous advantages, e.g. for thermal utilisation:

  • Easy to transport

Waste tyre granulates with a high purity degree

With KAHL flat die pelleting presses the product is ground to a particle size of 0.4 to 0.6 mm. Our company has decades of experience in the compaction and pelleting of raw materials. This process ensures effective and economical granulation of difficult products such as waste tyres – completely without nitrogen.

The flat die pelleting presses are characterized by their sturdy construction and their high flexibility. Granulation presses for waste tyres achieve a throughput of 2.5 t/h in three-shift operation.

Compact Energy

Waste belongs to the category of the most difficult materials to be processed. With KAHL plants municipal and industrial waste can be transformed into valuable alternative fuels.

Seven million tons of municipal waste can be processed into about three million tons of alternative fuels with a caloric value of abt. 17,500 KJ/kg. They are used as an important energy source in the following sectors:

  • Iron extraction
  • Power stations
  • Production of the synthesis gas methanol
  • Cement industry

Adaptable Technology

Compacted and dust-free municipal and industrial sewage sludge can be treated further at low costs. KAHL sewage sludge pelleting provides:

  • Easy transport
  • Use as cover material in landscaping
  • Well-suited quality for thermal utilisation

After an appropriate pre-treatment, the solid content of the sewage sludge is between 60 and 95 %. By means of the pan grinder rollers it is ground and compacted on the die. The bulk density of the pellets is about 800 kg/m³.

The correct capacity Presona baler to meet the customer’s requirements is always available. The Presona Baler Series consists of 6 basic models, the OH, EH, VH, CH, DH and XH. These letters refer to size of the feed opening. All models are available with either larger or doubled up motors for higher output.

The OH model is developed for the printing, packaging and graphic industry. Typically fed by means of a pneumatic feeding system. The OH model has no prepress – suitable for low headroom. The LP 40 OH baler has a throughput capacity of up to 10 tons/hour.LP-50-EHF2_2-720x340

Double Trommel

The technology of the double trommel enables screening into 3 products in just one working stage. The wire screens are mounted around the outer trommel, which allows an exact separating and a good screening result of each product – fine middle and coarse.

Stationary Screens

The stationary double trommel screens ZEMMLER® MULTI SCREEN® are characterized by flexibility. The self-driven cleaning brush guarantees a permanent clean outer screen to achieve continuous high performance of the screening machine.

The drive of the stationary screens is electric and can be customized on demand. High standards of reliability are due to in-house quality checks and parts of well-known producers.

Wire screens

The double trommel consists of a stable and robust inner trommel. It separates coarse material and also protects the outer trommel against damage. This enables a mounting of the wire screens around the outer trommel.

The wire screens have various mesh sizes of 2 – 80 mm and different shapes like square mesh, harp mesh or long mesh. Wire screens are compact and are easy to transport to each working sight. The change of this wire screens is simple and fast – no special tools are necessary.

The ZEMMLER® MULTI SCREEN® MS 1600 is mostly designed for company’s operative in gardening and landscaping. Compact dimensions and a low weight make this screening machine an interesting alternative for being hauled after pick-up trucks and small trucks.

By installing an additional ring you can remodelling the machine in just a few minutes into a three-product-machine. The outer trommel is equipped with wire screen panels for an ideal screening result.

The ZEMMLER® MULTI SCREEN® MS 3200 is also developed for companies operative in gardening and landscaping. The feeding unit and rough construction are nearly the same like MS 1600, so it is possible to feed the machine with the wheel loaders which are usual in gardening. Basically MS 1600 and MS 3200 differ in the length of the double trommel. By installing an additional ring you can remodelling the machine in a third-product-screen.

The ZEMMLER® MULTI SCREEN® MS 4200 screens various materials with an output of up to 120 cbm an hour.

The ZEMMLER® MULTI SCREEN® MS 5200 provides with its over 5 meter long double trommel a total screen surface of about 46.6 sqm. This screen is designed for screening with small mesh sizes and sticky material. The longer moving time of the material within the trommel results in neat screening products.

The double trommel screen enables a screening of the material into 3 products in just one working stage. Using wire screens on the outer trommel increases the efficiency of the screen surface.

The ZEMMLER® MULTI SCREEN® MS 6700 is the largest screen of the product family. With its total screening surface of more than 60m² and a length of the trommel of 6.700 mm it can even screen cohesive material easily and in a good quality- even with small mesh sizes.

The MS 6700 can screen into three products in just one working stage by using the proven double trommel technology.
